The original design of the Facilities Database used Nested tabels and non-compliant HTML. After Joining SAIC in September of 2005 I was presented with the challenge of updateing the layout in order to make the website comply with US Government Section 508 Standards. The changes to the Layout include:
The result was a Web Based application with a cleaner look and feel than that of it's predecessor.

MyPAL is a repository of software engineering and task management practices employed on the ETSC and defines the
organization's standard software process. The term "software" is broadly interpreted to include all
software-related products and plans developed for SSA, regardless of life cycle, methodology, or platform. Sections
included
IPAL, Centers of Excellence (best practices), Employee
Information, Training, and
SSA Contract Information. The navigation was reorganized
and all content was confirmed with the appropriate department for accuracy. MyPal continues to be distributed to
various Lockheed Martin contracts as an example of
CMM Level 3 compliant process asset library.

Organizations who completed forms for individuals petitioned the Social Security Administration for forms that
would be easier for them to use over the internet. The result of that petition was the development of the AeDIB PRO
effort. In an effort to expedite the front end development process templates were created using CSS positioning and
XHTML to help the Page developers complete their pages in a timely manner.

During the original AeDIB effort three applications were created. During the process changes were made to the

layout based on the Social Security Administration's website (

Card Applications) were ported over to the new J2EE/WebSphere architecture. A CSS based design for new internet

Front end development of the AeDIB applications. Development was done using JSP and XHTML to display static and dynamic content provided by a Java Architecture. This site provided a interactive forum for LMIT employees on the Social Security Contract. Development was done using CSS based and Table based layouts utilizing JSP connecting to a DB2 Database for dynamic page content.
This site offered report uploading across the RCN Corp. Business Network. A report tracking usage was generated for managers to view the website usage.
This site offered a database interface to the ICB Database. Users could enter ICB information allowing network personnel across the country to comment on the possible impact on the network should the sale complete. The site provided a builtin board style system to track user comments and offered e-mail notification to users for each individual ICB.
An integrated Visual Basic and Microsoft Access database built uniquely for each Marriott Hotel property world-wide. This tool allowed each property to determine which technological assets were Y2K compliant and which assets needed to be updated or replaced.
